Helen Sanders CatPAWS is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities® to bring adoptable cats to Seal Beach PetSmart in support of PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week, taking place November 6-12, 2023.

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week in November coincides with National Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Older pets are often overlooked because of potential future health risks and concerns about ingrained behaviors. But just like people, pets age differently. Aside from doing something wonderful for older pets in need, there are so many reasons why they make ideal companions. Here are just a few benefits to consider:

– Bonding with senior pets can be a bit easier because they’re more likely to be calmer, more experienced, and house-trained.

– For those in search of fellow “couch potatoes” to watch movies with or even to lay low while working, senior pets can be the perfect match.

– Whether it’s their preferences or their personalities, pets in their golden years may be more transparent.

– Living with senior pets can inspire their people to slow down and take time to stop and smell the roses.

– Adopting senior pets ensures peace and better health in their final years and helps shelters to ease the overcrowding.

    During the in-store event, Helen Sanders CatPAWS invites potential pet parents to meet adoptable cats in their area. Opportunities will be given to spend time with cats in spacious meet and greet areas. Staff and volunteers will help potential adopters learn about caring for pets and point to welcome resources.

    Aren’t sure if you’re ready to adopt? Please consider fostering a senior pet! This not only gets them out into loving homes, but helps alleviate overcrowding at shelters, and can be an ideal opportunity to really get to know the animals.     • November 6-9 & 11 please contact us and make an appointment to visit a kitty of interest.
    • November 10 & 12 will be an open adoption event from 11:00 am-2:00 pm.
